The short version
The WaveLens command-line tools don’t send your audio files, your reports, or any data about what you’re comparing anywhere. License verification is fully local — your .lic file is verified entirely on your machine, and the tools never make a network call to do it. What follows covers the website and purchase process, where we do collect a limited amount of information.
Information we collect
- Purchase information — when you buy a license, our payment processor collects the billing details needed to complete the transaction (we don’t store your full card number ourselves).
- Account/license information — the email address and name associated with a license, so we can deliver it and verify support requests.
- Form submissions — the Contact page, the Education license request form and the beta sign-up form are processed by Formspree, a third-party form service. Whatever you enter there — for example your name, email address, your school and whether you are a student or teacher, what you plan to test, and your message — passes through their systems to reach us; see Formspree’s privacy policy for how they handle it.
- Newsletter — if you subscribe on the blog, we store your email address in our newsletter system and use it only to send you new posts. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Website usage — we use Google Analytics on our websites; see “Cookies, analytics and other services” below.
- Support correspondence — anything you send us when you contact support or sales, kept only as long as needed to resolve the request.
Cookies, analytics and other services
We use Google Analytics (GA4) on wavelens.dev and docs.wavelens.dev to understand how the sites are used. It sets cookies in your browser (such as _ga) and sends Google information including your IP address, device and browser details, the pages you view, and your approximate location. You can opt out by blocking cookies in your browser, using a content blocker, or installing Google’s browser opt-out add-on. Apart from Google Analytics, we don’t set advertising or social-media tracking cookies on the sites.
Our pages load their typeface from the jsDelivr content-delivery network, so jsDelivr receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. Your browser’s local storage keeps your light/dark theme choice and whether you dismissed the announcement bar; that stays on your device and isn’t sent to us.
What we don’t collect
The WaveLens tools themselves — wavelens, wavgen, wavchan, wavsummary, wavscan — don’t phone home. They don’t transmit your audio files, report contents, file paths, or usage telemetry. License checks happen offline, against the .lic file already on your machine.
How we use it
To deliver and support what you’ve licensed (issuing and renewing licenses and responding to whatever you contact us about), to send the newsletter if you’ve subscribed, and to understand how our sites are used. We don’t sell your information.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time, or to remove you from the newsletter — use the Contact page.
